About Me

My name is Xander, although plenty of people call me either Iskender or Max, and I'm currently
eighteen
-years old. I've written a little bit about myself below, if you care to read.
I've been programming since I was nine. I started with Scratch, then moved on to Python, then Java, then C# and a lot of other stuff. I mostly learn via a "bash my head against the wall repeatedly" strategy, that I think has worked for me so far. I've been interested in how computers and games tick for most of my life, so I think it's a pretty obvious direction for me to go in. Scored a 4 on my AP Computer Science A exam during COVID, which was fun. (not)
I really love history, especially Byzantine history. I love it so much that my AP Seminar project was essentially "why the Byzantines are the coolest." If you haven't read George Ostrogorsky's "History of the Byzantine State", go out, read it, and then come back to this page when you have.
I'm also a pretty avid writer, though it's mostly in worldbuilding. That territory comes with a lot of mapmaking and flag-drawing, so I've also gotten pretty skilled with that.
